I, We, Three

I, We, Three is trio between two performers and a webcam. The work was a collaborative performative study in what happens when the interactive media is treated as a co-creator and developed alongside the improvisational and structured movement vocabulary. Lexi and Frankie’s movement vocabularies were fed through a reactive media environment with live video feedback and fractured image manipulation and new phrases were born out of the negotiating with the digital image and the interactions with the physical hardwares. This performance was a performance and live study in authorship, collaboration, and a commentary on the role of everyday surveillance systems hacked for creative exploration.

This work premiered at the New Light Festival produced by Trifecta Dance in Chicago, IL in 2020 at Stage 773.
